A versatile range for safety applications

Easy configuration of complicated zones

Laser scanner protection and warning zone

Protection over a wide range

Up to 5 meters of protection zone and 20 meters
of warning zone configuration to suit various
application requirement.

Laser scanner dual protection mode

Dual protection mode

UAM can simultaneously protect two hazardous areas. Separate OSSD signals are triggered for the respective protection zones making it possible to guard two machines with a single
UAM.

Laser scanner master/slave function

Master-slave function

Maximum 4 units of UAM can be interconnected
for Master-Slave operation when multiple units
are required to guard the hazardous area. The
system can be controlled by connecting the input
and output signals to Master unit only.

Laser scanner Encoder inputs

Encoder input

In AGV applications, area is switched depending
on the vehicle’s speed. Speed and direction of
travel provided via encoders are constantly
monitored to switch the area and stop the AGV
during abnormal travel.

Laser scanner Ethernet connection

Data via ethernet

UAM 05LP
Measurement data can be acquired via Ethernet with status of input/output signals and cyclic redundancy check code.

UAM 05 LPA
Ethernet connection. Measurement data and configuration data accessible via Ethernet

UAM 05LEC
Fully network-connected scanner with support for the Safety over EtherCAT protocol

Laser scanner SD card for configuration

SD card for configuration

UAM 05LP only. Configuration data can be saved in a SD card which in turn can be used for configuring the UAM without connecting it to a PC.

The feature is useful while replacing the UAM or configuring multiple units with the same settings.

Models for every application

The Laser scanner family consists of three models, designed to adapt to different levels of application complexity:

UAM 05 LP Safety laser scanner

UAM 05LP

  • Integrated safety functions (EDM, Interlok, Muting, sequence of protected areas)
  • Master/Slave functions. Communication between Master and Slave via 2 RS-485 serial connections
  • 2 inputs for connecting encoders
  • Ethernet connection. Measurement data, such as distance, current, input/output signal status and CRC, can be accessed via Ethernet
  • Cable or connector wiring
UAM 05LPA laser scanner

UAM 05 LPA

  • Fully compatible and interchangeable with the UAM 05LP model
  • Capable of controlling two separate axes thanks to 4 encoder inputs
  • Two different methods for defining the number of fields: standard inputs or fixed-pattern inputs
  • Ethernet connection. Measurement and configuration data accessible via Ethernet
  • Cable or connector wiring
UAM 05LEC Laser scanner

UAM 05LEC

  • Fully network-connected scanner with support for the Safety over EtherCAT protocol. The supported EtherCAT profiles are: FSoE, EoE, FoE, CoE
  • A large number of configurable fields with flexible zone definition (protected or warn) – up to 176 fields if a single zone is defined for each field
  • Hybrid connectivity. The UAM 05LEC integrates physical I/O within the same connector as the power supply. Input signals for muting, interlock and encoder can be wired directly
  • Connector module that can be fitted facing downwards or towards the rear
Laser Scanner AGV application

Expands the range of safety applications

Hokuyo safety laser scanner is ideal for:

  • 32 safety area patterns to accommodate the AGV travel path for collision prevention

  • Detects humans or objects entering the hazardous area

  • Detects access into critical zone
